| 2 | 3 7:30 pm-10:00 pm 03/04/21 Introducing The British Invasion, 5 piece band from Auckland. This is the reboot of the popular 60’s tribute band that played all over NZ from 2012 to 2018. Initially the band was focused solely on the early 1960’s and the bands that broke America, starting with that famous appearance by the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in February 1964. That event ushered in an “invasion” of British rock n roll bands into the USA, with the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Hollies, The Bee Gees and many more. So now The British Invasion version 2.0 has a younger and more energetic line up. Rather than trying to duplicate the original 60’s songs to an exact degree, the band is focused on interpreting those studio versions into a live format, in the same way that Paul McCartney, and the Rolling Stones do now in the year 2020. The repertoire has been expanded to include some later acts such as Elton John, Queen and even Oasis. The show is a celebration of the wonderful talent that emerged from the UK, all sparked off from that fateful Ed Sullivan show. By creating a more diverse mix of material, the band has a very wide ranging appeal. All the musicians are very experienced players with thousands of gigs under their belt. With a Scouse lead singer from Liverpool, it adds to the British flavour and authenticity. They know how to work a crowd and get the party started.
